The Bathurst Rotary Club, for a number of years, have provided a free community BBQ in conjunction with the Anniversary of D-Day (held on the Saturday closest to the Anniversary date of June 6th).
This year, the North Shore Regiment, who had their named changed a few years back, are now being honoured and will have their original name restored at the event at the KC Center on Saturday June 7th.
In previous years, the veterans were marched in the the Memorial Site at the North end of Coronation Park. Chairs were set up and many if just stood nearby. The event started with a Master of Ceremonies (often Graham Wiseman was involved on behalf of the City and t he Legion). There was a moment of silence at 11am and after the ceremony everyone was invited to the BBQ
In recent years held at BHS cafeteria but was in the tennis court at the onset.
Our Rotary Club will do this year’s BBQ, for those who attend and for anyone who comes out, until the food is all gone, at the entrance to the KC Irving Center.

Wanted to share with all of you the overwhelming and
huge success of Anglophone North’s (Bathurst, Jacquet River, Dalhousie,
Tide Head) clothing drive in partnership with the New Brunswick
Association for Community Living.

Some of most rural schools and the Bathurst Community have managed to raise
close to 900 bags of clothing.  YES, 900 bags to support initiatives within
each school.  Tide Head has chosen the Children’s Wish Foundation, Jacquet
River – new books for their library and literacy within the Bathurst
Community.

When we first took on the project we never would have imagined it to be as successful as this.  The support of  some of our most rural schools and their communities was amazing.  Also adding that each community now has a greater understanding of the New Brunswick Association for Community Living, who they are and the support they offer to families and people with intellectual disabilities.

I would like to add a huge thank you for all the work and support from
our community schools people Cindy Courier and Aysleigh Lefurgey, and
NBACL board member Diane Cormier Northrup.  The Bathurst Education
Center team was also a great support!

We had some great BHS volunteers on Saturday along with many other community volunteers
always willing to pitch in to land a hand whenever needed. I am confident this will become an annual event.

Never underestimate the power and support from small communities!

Have a great week everyone.

The Bathurst Rotary Club is proud to announce that the Celebration on Ice Show brought a first-class show to the community. We saw a lot of smiling faces on both the kids and adults alike. It gave a chance for local skaters to perform with world professionals which was truly priceless.
A tremendous thank-you to our sponsors.  Without such devoted generosity, shows like this would not be possible.
Thank-you to the public, attendees, and volunteers.  We hope the show was all you wished it would be.
What a great group of skaters and Bathurst is proud to have had you here!
