Winner of Speaking Contest

The winner of today’s speaking contest is Pierre Boudreau. The club will send Pierre to Ottawa in early May to participate to the “Adventure in Citizenship” program with 200 other students from across Canada.

Spirit of Christmas

The Spirit of Christmas is into its 8^th year with the never ending need of support to our seniors with the number one being the visit to each individual home. Each year the Spirit of Christmas visits over 200 homes in the Bathurst and surrounding communities to assist seniors with a few treats, home baking and groceries to assist them through the cold winter months. Staff members at several Anglophone North Schools have also adopted nursing homes in the area to provide small wrapped gifts that residence can open together on Christmas morning bringing back some of the tradition of the Christmas Holiday

Audrey encouraged the Rotary members to attend the Christmas concert in support of the Spirit of Christmas and the local SPCA on November the 28^th and 29^th.

Golf Game Scheduled

The Rotary Club will be having a social mixer/golf game on 1 October at the Gowan Brae Golf and Country Club. The intent of this event is for members to meet and mingle in a more relaxed and social setting that one hour lunch meetings do not permit. This is intended as a member and spouse event. For those interested in golfing, the format will be nine holes of four ball best ball (scramble) with tee times starting at approximately 3:30 pm. Cost of golf for non members is to be determined. The social mixer is scheduled to start at 6:30 pm. Finger foods will be provided and the Winsors have agreed to perform a few songs. There is no cost to members, $5 for spouses and $10 for guests. You can attend golf only, mixer only, or both.
